I've got a similar problem (clicking on links does nothing), except that refreshing the page doesn't help. I have to exit and relaunch Opera or restart my computer. I can't find any rhyme or reason as to when or why this happens. Only happens on Opera.
My PC is about 8 years old and has the Vista OS
This means that you are using a very old version of Opera and, consequently, a very old version of Chromium since Opera stopped supporting Vista a while ago.
And the older the browser version, more are the chances that pages start showing issues.
Anyway, you can try deleting cookies and cache to see if it helps.
Further research showed that the message at the bottom of the screen was from the extension Chromarks. I disabled that extension and the annoying message no longer shows up.
As for the links losing the text no one has been able to tell me why that occurs. I have other browsers on my PC and Opera is the ONLY one in which this behavior shows up.
I have had this problem for about four weeks with out being able to sort it - used the 'Revo' Un-installer as recommended by 'lando243' and did the full deep un-install which has completely cured all the issue.
Well chuffed with this blog!
Ditto here with Google and Picasaweb, one of its subsidiaries. The sites keep telling me I'm not allowing cookies when I am, in fact, staring right at their cookies. So I can't log in, and must do so on Safari.
