Application crashes and closes for me in 1-2 seconds after startup. Nokia 920 running WP8.1 Update (8.10.14157.200)

I tried turning on Airplane Mode. The app doesn't crash and close. I get an error dialog "Connection Failed: Unable to connect. Please review your network settings.". When I click on the Exit button, the application feels like it is frozen, the screen won't change and I am stuck with the Exit button colored Blue. Then when I try to resume the app. after switching tasks, I just get a black screen.
