When I open Opera GX (Stable 114.0.5282.123, for Windows 64-bit), the window is completely blank white and I can only close it by force quitting it (e.g. via Task Manager). When I try to uninstall it, the uninstall prompt appears for 1-2 seconds but then quickly disappears. I tried Revo Uninstaller but that also opens the Opera GX uninstall prompt which again closes too quickly to use.

I then downloaded and installed the latest version of Opera GX (Stable 115.0.5322.142), which works fine so far, but the old Opera GX is still there. How can I remove the old one?

Sigh... the splash screen is still there. Going to have to start migrating my Opera tasks to another browser.

The Eric Andre startup sounds insane. Almost like a sabotage attempt on the browser. Fortunately I'm using the regular Opera, not GX. But unfortunately the splash screen is also time-wasting.

Startup speed is still an important factor for browser user-friendliness. Now pretty much every other time I open Opera there is unnecessary waiting time tacked on thanks to the splash screen.

Firefox also has a similar issue. They roll out a lot of updates, that apply when the browser is opened. But at least those automatic updates do something (not just a splash screen) and can be easily disabled.

The reason I use these different browsers is that I use each browser for different purposes -- e.g. I'm signed into different Google accounts on each, so it's easier to keep track of things. But to circumvent this, I can also just use different profiles on Chrome or another browser that still take startup speed seriously. So if I don't find a fix for this soon maybe that's what I'll start doing.

@leocg Thanks for clarifying. So does anyone know how to get rid of the update splash screen specifically?

Guess what? Disabling #opera-one-introduction at opera://flags/ did not get rid of the annoying time-wasting splash screen that now appears at the start of each new version.

I have just applied this. Hope it works.

I recommend everyone send feedback to Opera to add a standard option to disable the splash screen.
