This feature should work fine on Linux, it's just much harder to see, since we can't manually specify the process for being swapped out. What you should see is that when you're using other applications that take a lot of memory, your computer will not slow down - the inactive Opera processes will be swapped out by the OS, expensive page-ins of those processes will not be needed, and the memory can be reclaimed by other applications.
