Chrome has some security issues with implicitly trusting certificates that have been explicitly revoked by their issuers because their developer(s) have chosen to ignore established industry standards.

Is Opera following industry standards or does it behave like Chrome ?

Also, how do you set Opera's "Hard Fail" option for certificate revocation ?

As the title indicates, over the years I've noticed some of the many websites make assumptions and treat Opera Desktop as Opera Mobile. This behavior seems to continue even with Opera NEXT.

Just a suggestion if not already implemented, embed code in Opera desktop that tries to mitigate and correct those assumptions.

Note, I never operate over metered connections and there's no particular reason for any program or website to assume that I am.

There's a program in Windows called "System Restore." It doesn't wipe your system fresh or anything like that, it simply allows you to restore your system to a previous date. If you noticed the issue on the 25th for instance, take the system back to the 19th.

Simply type the name "System Restore" in the start menu for Windows Vista and 7.

For Windows 8 (and maybe 8.1,) they forgot to add it to the Start Menu, but the program itself is actually still there.

To access it for those versions, hold the "Windows" key on your keyboard and hit the letter "R".

In the little Run box that will pop-up, type "RSTRUI" or "rstrui.exe" then click "OK" in the little window. That will start the System Restore program.

First and foremost, thank you all for the many years worth of a highly customizable, stable, and a well thought out product.

From what I can ascertain, the primary goal is to implement many of Opera 12's features in Opera Next, then worry about extra customize-ability later. No problem. A big thumbs-up.

Just wanted to throw my two cent in and hope to bump-up the priority on reimplementing tab-stacking and double-click tab to close features in Opera Next.

@ some others, remember, coding, debugging and testing is neither quick, cheap or easy. Good work takes time. Be patient. "You get what you pay for" may not apply for Opera specifically, but it at least emphasizes the point that we have little right to bash or complain. It's not as though they're making Trojans and/or false claim to anything.

Single process programs didn't seem to have issues with multi-threading and multi-core.

I suspect the primary benefits are process stabilization and security; taking advantage of code already in the operating system.

Regarding security, it's much harder for one process to gain unintended access to and/or modify the memory structures of another.

Regarding stability, running add-ons and plug-ins out-of-process results with better stability and responsiveness. When that add-on or plug-in hangs a thread it isn't necessarily detrimental to the entire process. But it takes much more thought, planning and programming to build that type of stability into your program; and it won't be as good as that, which is built into the operating system.

In effect, it's much easier to achieve better security, stability and responsiveness by going out-of-process.

Man, I've been waiting for the longest on Windows Phone 7.

While I've been able to set the default search engine for the address bar, haven't been able to modify the default search engine for Speed Dial (or whatever it's called in version 20.0.1387.91).

I'd like to see the SPeed Dial search engine mirror the setting for the address bar.

Windows Live Mail's database is stored...

which typically points back to "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail"

Be sure to backup that folder (and registry key) whenever you attempt to upgrade from one version to the next. Make sure you keep the original files used to setup these programs; even if you're updating to a new version.

Same goes for Thunderbird and Opera Mail... export your contacts and if possible, mail. Then backup (copy) their respective database files. When something goes wrong, you'll have the necessary files and settings to recover the program back to it's previous state. Export/Import processes often don't go smoothly. Pertinent data gets dropped or misplaced. I've had to use Excel, Quattro or Base to modify exported data files in order to get them to import properly to the next program or version.
