@ezenofx I think I might have a similar problem. When websites stop loading, is the page white and the tab named “Untitled” and when you hover your mouse over the tab, it says “Crashed?”

RE: No bookmarks or speed dial saveOpera for Windows
@burnout426 Funny thing, I thought to do that a few minutes ago. I renamed the roaming Opera Stable but when I opened Opera, all of my old information and such was gone.
I didn't like that, so I unrenamed "Opera Stable Old" but it asked if I wanted to combine it with the new 1. Initially I said yes but when it asked to do it for a sub folder I said no. I deleted the new Opera Stable and renamed the old Opera Stable. I opened Opera to find my bookmarks and such back. As a test, I deleted some old bookmarks, added a new 1, and edited another 1. When I reopened Opera to my surprise all the bookmark changes stuck! I don't know what I did right but I think it's fixed [knock on wood]. Thank you for the advice!

RE: No bookmarks or speed dial saveOpera for Windows
@burnout426 Actually, after I responded to you, I reinstalled AVG Antivirus and as soon as that happened, the problem of bookmarks not saving or changing started back up. The 2 AVG files that LockHunter said were blocking modifications reappeared after I reinstalled AVG. I did that trick I mentioned earlier but with the Default sub-folder of roaming Opera Stable this time and that started things back up.
I'll probably wait a week until reinstalling AVG to see if the problem's gone away. I'm at a loss, for AVG hasn't given me this problem before. Did I do something in AVG to cause this? I hope it isn't a permanent bug, since my family bought it and it's useful in protecting our computers.

RE: No bookmarks or speed dial saveOpera for Windows
@burnout426 Handle found nothing. Lockhunter did but while I could get around the opera locks, AVGSvc.exe and aswEngSrv.exe won’t let me go through. Shutting off AVG temporarily doesn’t help. I do notice the 2 seem to be protecting the Default subfolder. Initially, both displayed the folder 1 each but after trying to get through in vain again now it’s twice?

RE: No bookmarks or speed dial saveOpera for Windows
@burnout426 i tried these. I unselected read only and pressed apply for both but when I look at properties for both folders again “read only” is rechecked. I did a separate opera install like the middle link suggests and that saved bookmarks just fine. I renamed Opera Stable for Local but I couldn’t do that for Roaming’s version because it kept saying the folder or file was open in another program even though Opera’s closed and Task Manager showed it wasn’t open.
I ran System Fille Checker in Command Prompt and it found nothing wrong. Deleting cookies didn’t solve the problem. I have noticed if you try to delete bookmarks or empty the bookmarks trash folder when you start Opera back up they’re right back where they originally were. I also deleted a few extensions and disabled all of them but that too gets reversed when Opera’s reopened. When I open a new window or private window when the current window with new bookmarks is still open, those new bookmarks are still present in those new windows.

RE: Opera stops loading websites after a while (WIN 10)Opera for Windows
@ezenofx I waited a week to be sure but I think I solved the issue of Opera no longer loading websites after a while.
Over a week ago, Opera started freezing really badly, to the point when it got to hanging it could freeze the laptop’s clock and even turn the screen black for minutes at a time. Last Sunday, I uninstalled Opera but this time I didn’t click reinstall. I did that before and that didn’t solve the problem. Be sure not to delete your data when uninstalling.
Once it got uninstalled, I ran the System File Checker scannow in Command Prompt and let it do its work. When I came back, I restarted the computer but it froze and took a while, so I admittedly got impatient and shut it off. I turned the computer back on and then enacted a regular Shutdown and then turned it back on. I downloaded Opera back onto my laptop and the websites not loading problems seems to be gone. Opera still froze and crashed a few times particularly on Tumblr but that’s almost rare now.
I don’t know what steps in that process helped but it worked. My Opera data remaining meant I didn’t lose my bookmarks and extensions, though be warned if you like specific pictures on your bookmarks, you’ll have to put them back in. Probably don’t interrupt your restart but maybe try these steps I did and see if that helps.

RE: Opera stops loading websites after a while (WIN 10)Opera for Windows
@ezenofx other strategies I used to deal with the problem that haven’t worked:
- turning off video acceleration
- wiping my browser history
- turning off “snooze inactive tabs to save memory.”
I’m at a loss for what’s happening. The closest solution I could find is play video or audio in 1 tab while clicking around on websites in the other, which server to put off the issue for a long while but that’s not sustainable and sometimes 1 tab still needs my whole undivided attention.

New Tabs become BlankOpera for Windows
Is anyone noticing that after you try to open new web pages, they just go blank? I’ve been dealing with that issue starting on Thursday night and it’s a frustrating inconvenience.
When I hover my mouse over the tab titled “Blank” something titled “Crashed.” comes up. I can turn it off and then turn it back on to temporarily get rid of the problem, but it eventually re-emerges. The sites I’m already have on remain as long as you don’t try to click to another page when the blanking starts. I thought it was because a Opera update didn’t get through, so I used the Opera installer but the blank screen just occasionally blinks back to the home page. I can’t access my settings or or history when this is happening and restarting my laptop didn’t help either. Out of curiosity, I opened new and private windows when the blanking was happening and they open up blank or stay on their home screens too.
When I tried to look up this problem, I only got fixes for a similar issue with Google Chrome, which didn’t help. I have more than a few extensions but they have been on my Opera for years without incident. I was hoping anyone here can help with this problem.
