All of the threads that asked about speed dial extensions are closed after the short and obnoxious answer that it is no longer supported.
What do you mean speed dial extensions are no longer supported? Why is Opera even supported anymore? So many important features have been killed with reference to using Chromium that only habits keep us with Opera anymore.
Correct me if I am wrong but Opera has been Chromium for years now and supported speed dial extensions ever since. But not anymore.
OK. I am convinced now. Not. You might have not been with Opera from v. 7, so you did not see all the fine stuff Opera started way ahead of the others and have now ditched. I really am for progress, but losing features (especially those that other browsers have) is not a good way to progress. You can strip the browser down to dry bones so that it would be lightning fast, but this is not the only reason why Opera was great. No wonder some are still using v 12.
Thanks for the tip. I will go now to have a coffee and then I might forget about my love for Opera and consider it what it really is: a copy of Chrome.
rafelluik, Great! The most important is to get answer to your questions and we surely do not care if Opera is paying attention to us or not. I am so happy now, that the issue is solved!
lem729, Thanks for your comment. It looks like that there is another version of Opera 20 which I have not tried yet, and it is totally different from the one in the downloads session of Opera. I hope some day I too will discover the browser you are talking about. I would really love to.
What I really do not understand is why those of us who hate Opera with Blink are considered anti-progress, old-world-advocaters and evil conservatives. I love progress. I really would love to see Opera progress, but here is what Opera Blink / Next / New engine / etc. has brought us:
And these lacking features are why we (or at least me) loved Opera in first place. Take these out, and it does not deserve to be called Opera any more. Also I do not see the point in making a very ill copy of Chrome with way less features. If I wanted Chrome, I would install Chrome. Which is not a browser, but a spy-software. But to have a dumb version of Chrome with a red O on it? Why would I? It makes no sense. And not because I would be against progress. I am against meaningless stuff - especially with a very reduced feature-set.
But don't worry! No Opera developer, customer service, officer, marketing or sales person will ever read your comments. Not connected to Opera Next, but in the meantime of launching Opera Next they removed all customer support contact possibilities, help desk, Facebook send message feature, etc.
So: we can fume as much as we like, but they do not pay attention to us. Looks like that customers are no longer important.

That was the most important feature of Opera (at least for me). They made so many right developments that created industry standards and were copied by all other browsers. Even the Opera Link was copied by Firefox (leave alone tabs, speed-dial, etc.). I am so sad to see that since introducing Next they are ruining everything they have achieved. I was such a big supporter of Opera that all my colleagues teased me with that. Now I have to tell them not to download an ill-completed Chrome with a red O on it. But Next is even worse than the previously mentioned spy-software because it has a very reduced feature-set.

OK. Thank you both. Now I understand. I was wrong and everything is OK with Opera. All we have to do is switch to another browser. I am sorry to see a really good browser deteriorate, because I was a real fan of it since 2002. But you both are right. The problem is with me, who wants things, functions and features that were part of Opera before, but they do not want to have them any more. Sorry for my (and many other user's) "special" requests.
And I am not a developer. I have been a devoted user. So I can not "make things better by giving solutions" - I do not have to. I will act according to what the two of you have wrote and forget Opera. Although my heart breaks for it. Not that anyone should care - you are right with that again.
