No exaggeration. i had a hand clicker next to me one day decided to use it while at the computer for work. form 8.40am to about 5pm with afew breaks in between, I was long time user of avast, even got 2 years of their premium security suite back when they where giving points towards adding new people up to their services. which as a Tech support person i had many chances to add new people up to avasts services.

But when it ran out i'd uninstall the paid services and reinstall the free. i counted 43 times at between those hours, which game mode on and turned off all the options for pop ups in the settings of avast.

43 times I had to click away the box of, some coupon, or deal, or half price sale. in one day of working, distracting me from typing or screening code.

to be honest. for something that should be there protecting your computer from annoyances that was 43 times too many an antivirus program should ask to pay for anything.

yes i read your link. the moderators of the site are not the developers of the software. and most are just underpaid interns that don't actually know what they're talking about. working with customer service companies for over 13 years has taught me that. they tell you to submit a request to techsupport. which is what I have done. if they want to continue getting money from me they'll consider adding opera to their list of programs to monitor.

I also know that most companies will want money from you. much like all those free anti-virus software solutions out there that bug you 30 times a day to buy their software, which is just basically an intrusive way to pay to disable their ads.

I didn't want to give into those kinds of tactics. so I searched for paid software instead. Kaspersky and eset turned out to be top choices for paid security software. bit the bullet on kaspersky. but only found out after that it was incompatible with Opera. one of the browsers i've enjoyed using for years.

on the point of "just renaming the broswer" thats all well and good til you need to update the browser for security flaws and other freatures, then you need to go rename it again, and continue that act til it is eventually added.

its not a practice I plan on doing. thats too much hassle for something that should just work, and not have to bother with tinkering to get done.

Thank you for your input. your personal experience with some moderator on kaspersky support was awful. I hope for a favorable outcome. but then once my subscription is near its end it will make me review their program again before hitting that renew button.

The laziness would be both sides. they need two to tango. whether that's one side refusing to work together, or both sides just never getting around to collaborating support between the other company its a shame to see.

I've already moved on to Chromium edge, for now will start moving over my profiles and such. and leave opera as a secondary browser for timed and temporary use.

I've made a request to Kaspersky about Opera support. stating that it will be the deciding factor if i continue my subscription with them.

I'll make an official request to the opera team on the same shortly.

Guess its time to move on from opera. I like the browser but if its not secure or compatible with kaspersky, and I paid for kaspersky i will need to move browsers instead.
