Sidebar button/badge customisation

The sidebar feature is pretty neat and powerful, but it can't be said about the buttons.
First of all, the background of the button should inherit the background color of the panel. If I use any color instead of white, the button looks bad.
Second, the button itself can show information even when the panel is closed. Now we can set the text and the background color of the badge, but not the color of the text. It locks out half of the color wheel. I know I can generate icons with a canvas, but that's too much trouble to change the text color.
And please, remove that gradient overlay from the badge.

Thanks, we're aware of the issues you mentioned here. You'll see some of these improved in further updates.

I think you should change the part of the API related to the badge to one get and one set functions with one object as an argument. The object can contain a few basic CSS properties like color, bgcolor and border-radius.

Then what is the line in the changelog?
OK, I know what "future updates" means, but that line drew my attention.
And you should update the API reference, because it is outdated. Still states that the badge is not supported.
