How to Make Opera 12.16 my default browser under Ubuntu 14.04?

I was able to download and install Opera 12.16.1860 on Ubuntu 14.04 (took three tries before Ubuntu Software Center got it in), but I can't find any way to make it the default browser. All searches thus far relate to enabling it on earlier versions of Ubuntu, and none of those given methods relate to changes that Ubuntu has gone through since their time. Can anyone help?

• Open System Settings.
• Under "System", click on "Details".
• Select "Default Applications" in the sidebar.
• Select Opera under the "Web" drop-down.
