Limiting inactive workspace memory and cpu usage

It would be really useful if there was an option to limit or completely disable resource usage from inactive workspace. It's really frustrating, specially in slow computers, to have only a few tabs open in your current workspace and still having lag and freezing. It would also elevate the usefulness and purpose to have multiple workspaces, as in this way the resources of the computer would be used only for what the active workspace was intended for.
