I’m experiencing an issue with Tab Islands on the Linux version of Opera One.

After restarting the browser, Tab Islands frequently disappear, and all tabs are restored in an ungrouped state. The island structure is completely lost, even though it works correctly during the session.

I’m using the Snap version of Opera on Ubuntu 24.04, and I’m wondering if this is a known limitation related to Snap, session persistence, or Linux support.

Is there a known workaround or an upcoming fix for this issue?

      Details: (10/02/2026)

      • Opera: 127.0.5778.45 (Stable)
      • Chromium: 143.0.7499.194
      • OS: Ubuntu 24.04
      • Kernel: 6.11.0-21-generic
      • Install: SNAP: /snap/opera/428/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera
      • User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/143.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 OPR/127.0.0.0

      Thanks in advance

Its an issue you can rid off by following below:

Switch From Snap to Official .deb

The Snap build is the most common source of session issues.

        Remove Snap:

        sudo snap remove opera

        Download the official .deb from:
        https://www.opera.com/download

        Install:

        sudo dpkg -i opera-stable_*.deb
        sudo apt -f install

The .deb version stores profile data normally under:

        ~/.config/opera/

This alone fixed the issue for many... you can try and tell if it worked or not. I am most probably sure, this will be working for you too.
