browserkit last edited byDear Opera Team and Forum Members, I am reaching out because I have encountered a serious issue that has affected not only me but also more than 1.5 million users who rely on the Skyload extension. The Issue My account browserkit@gmail.com, associated with the Skyload extension, was deleted due to inactivity. Unfortunately, I did not receive timely notification about this, as the message ended up in my spam folder, preventing me from responding. As a result: - My account was deleted — I lost access to all associated data.
- The Skyload extension was removed — more than 1.5 million users have now lost access to its functionality.
- All data, ratings, and reviews disappeared — years of work and user support were erased without giving me a chance to react.
Why Is This Critical? - Skyload was one of the most popular extensions on Opera Addons, providing media download capabilities and serving users for many years.
- Deleting an extension solely due to the developer’s account inactivity is a mistake. The extension itself remained actively used and maintained.
- This negatively impacts users’ rights — removing an extension without alternative methods of verifying account activity harms not just me but a massive number of people who depend on it.
What I Request - Restore my account (browserkit@gmail.com).
- Reinstate the Skyload extension and return it to Opera Addons - https://addons.opera.com/extensions/details/skyload/
- Review the extension deletion policy – activity should be based on the extension’s usage, not just the developer’s login history.
I hope for a prompt resolution and your understanding. If any other users have experienced similar issues, please support this post so the Opera team can take notice.
