opera not working on many sites, can't log in or loading to blank screen

something happened recently where sites like united airlines and other airlines, and other sites like sites to buy concert tickets either get stuck signing in - often having to do with sending me a sign-in code via email, or just sites that just load to a blank page. I can see them fine on chrome browser. also I've tried to load opera with no extensions, thinking maybe it was an add-in causing the issues, but no difference. I believe it started at least one if not two or three updates ago. there's been a few updates recently.
