Left and right keys collapses and expands bookmarks folder tree when renaming it

I am in the process of sorting my numerous bookmarks and I would like to conform the following behaviour.

if you try to rename a folder (F2) and navigate the cursor (left/right as you would expect), it collapses or expands the tree for that folder. Pressing up/down (surprisingly) jumps the cursor to the start or end. If you click on a letter, it ends the edit and just highlights the folder.

Is this supposed to happen? If so, why? This is counterintuitive. It would be like if I want to edit a word document and left and right minimised the whole window.
