On ubuntu 14.04. I am trying to install flashplayer.so. There is no /usr/lib/opera/plugin directory created upon install to install it into. When I tried creating this directory manually nothing happened. In my settings panel I checked advanced settings and saw nothing that resembled "content" to edit the plugin path as suggested in the help doc. The chrome pdf reader is in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/libpdf.so. When I tried putting it in there nothing happened. Matter of fact I cannot find a plugin directory anywhere for Opera. Any ideas?

The default (or standard) location for the flash player plug-in in Ubuntu (or derivatives) for Opera (Presto) 12.xx and below is usually /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/. If this path of folders does not exist, open the /usr/ folder by right click it and selecting 'Open as administrator' and enter your root password. You will now be able to create all the folders in that path that do not exist and finally copy the 'flashplayer.so' file to it.

I am using version 26 though. And my mozilla folder already has a flashplayer.so in it. So why does opera not recognize it?

Right!, well you need to install the 'pepperflashplugin-nonfree' from the Ubuntu repositories then.

Current Operas > 15.x only support plugins with PPAPI (Pepper Plugin API).
