Opera Developer 27.0.1689.2 with openssl 1.0.2~beta3-1

  • Opera refuses to start:
opera-developer: relocation error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4: symbol SSLv3_client_method, version OPENSSL_1.0.0 not defined in file libssl.so.1.0.0 with link time reference

I think this is the same bug as: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=768476
    ...
This is intentional. All packages having such an error with
    SSLv3_client_method, SSLv3_server_method and SSLv3_method should
get a bug filed against them to stop using those functions.
    ...

I hope some developer can fix this issue

  • Try current Debian Testing. Opera 27 DEV starts fine.

  • Opera itself doesn't depend on OpenSSL any more, so the problem is caused by us linking to their curl package, which in turn has an issue. Debian needs to fix their curl package.
