Extensions developer mode

Is the developer mode for extensions not available on linux? I tried 12.16 version and older and there's no buttons on the extensions page. I wanted to try the beta version but im on a 32bit system so I couldn't.

Did you add a extension by dragging the config.xml into extensions page?
