Bookmarks gone

I recently updated both my windows and operagx after not using my laptop for a week and suddenly all of my bookmarks are gone. I've already tried looking through the bookmark folders in appdata and they are empty, additionally I've also looked through the trash in the bookmarks and there's nothing there either. On top of that I even checked that I logged into the correct account and they are completely gone. I had many things saved in the bookmarks including job listings. Academic works for citations and various other personal things. It would be low-key a tragedy losing it all. Is there anything I can do?

Your bookmarks (including speed dials on the start page) are stored in the "Bookmarks" file in the profile folder. Goto the URL
opera://about
for the "profile" path. There's also a BookmarksExtras file for storage of speed dial thumbnails. So, open up the Bookmarks file in a text editor if you haven't already as see if your bookmarks are actually there or not. Also, look for a bookmarks.bak file.
You can also log into https://www.sync.opera.com/ and see what it says about the number of bookmarks. If it looks like they're there, you can try logging into Opera Sync and syncing your bookmarks in a test standalone installation to see if they arrive there or not. Make sure to goto the URL
opera://bookmarks
and check all folders. -

@burnout426 I've already done both and both are empty. That being the files in appdata under profile and the sync data as well
