Twitch Sidebar Disappeared

Hey!
I had this problem a few months ago and managed to fix it.For some unknown reason there is a chance that the Twitch sidebar setting just isn't there. I don't know why, but for some reason it works if you create a GX profile.
Go to your settings and create a new GX profile , start the new profile and activate the Twitch sidebar extention (under the GX settings) there.Now you can go to
%Appdata%\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable\_side_profiles
and to the newly created profile.
I can't guarantee 100% that these are the right files (either way nothing bad should happen other than your browser settings being reset), but you have to copyPreferences
Preferences.backup
Secure Preferences
Secure Preferences.backup
and paste them into
%Appdata%\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable
and overwrite the existing ones.If everything worked you should now have the sidebar extention enabled!

@knopfi Hello!
You're the first person I've found that actually has a potential solution on this issue! My only issue is that when I created a new profile, the setting didn't appear. do you potentially know how I could fix that as well? The only setting even relating to the Twitch Sidebar Icon was located in the "Welcome to Opera GX Set-up/Tutorial" screen that appears on initial launch, and I couldn't interact with the slider at all, it was just completely non-responsive. Pictured below.
The Sidebar settings in my GX Profile browser look like this. On my friends' browsers, the Twitch setting is usually located between the "GX Control," and "GX Cleaner," but as you can see it's just not there for me.

@tempyst Hi!
I will try to find out more about it when I have time (in a few hours).
For me the setting appeared below the "Use GX messenger icons" setting:
https://imgur.com/a/puyrhfeLet me know if you manage to fix it!

@tempyst Hi again!
So what I've found is that the Twitch integration is technically an extention.
You are, however, not able to install it like a normal extention.
If you would just copy the extentions folder into the "Extentions" folder, some thing would recognize it and just delete it after starting OperaGx.
Plus you would have to edit the "Preferences" file to actually show the extention in the sidebar.You can, however, use the "Developer Mode" to import extentions from their folder!
I quickly created a github repository so everyone can download the folder of the Twitch extention!I hope that this works for you!

@knopfi This actually works. I had this problem for months. Yo're the first person to gave a real solution, even when the Opera staff just ignore the issue.

@knopfi This was Awesome - but on Mac I get an error with the background.html. Do you have any idea on how to get around that?
Opera version Version:94.0.4606.54 (arm64)

@knopfi Got this error on Mac Opera
Manifest version 2 is deprecated, and support will be removed in 2023. See https://developer.chrome.com/blog/mv2-transition/ for more details.

@greensworlddk Huh, that's weird. It seems to have to do with manifest v2 being phased out.
It seems like the Twitch integration has been updated. I'm gonna update it on Github asap.
Manifest v2 extentions won't be supported in the future (I think June 2023), but the extention will 100% be updated to manifest v3 before that happens.
Thanks for writing the reply tho! -

@bloodytiger
are you sure that you did everything correctly?
Check the folder locations again.Other than that I honestly don't know what could fix it.
Opera doesn't seem to care about it's users, I've reported this issue a loooong time ago.
That's also why I switched to firefox a loooong time ago. (I just use an extention called "Twitch Live") -

@knopfi Yes I followed the steps on the github.
Meanwhile I installed the Twitch Live Extension to watch who is online and playing.
Thank you very much anaway
