Opera Mini doesn't work for free in this way. Some ISP gateways may allow free data traffic without HTTP support therefore without proxy control just overriding DNS resolvers, needesly to say that Opera Mini modds are made by creepy lads. Actually an extra proxy is not requied on front-end, Opera Mini per se is the client interface using the same global configuration as you can see from 'whateverhostorproxy/echo' url.
