need help trying to modify chromecast extension to run on opera

I am trying to run the chromecast extension on opera but it refuses to run since it thinks the chrome version is too old. I really have no idea how extensions work but I believe the extension just does a simple version check. Does anyone have any idea where I can find that check and change the version number to opera's version?

I'm guessing you have already installed this https://addons.opera.com/en-gb/extensions/details/download-chrome-extension-9/?display=en extension in Opera ?.

Yeah, that's how I installed the extension but the extension thinks chrome needs to be updated
I guess the checking is done in background_script.js but I don't understand javascript...

Chromecast doesn't work with Opera at this point. We're evaluating this, but no promises

Bummer... Opera is on the fence with me. I like it for mobile and am OK with it for desktop but I cast tons of stuff to my TV. The lack of chromecast on Opera sends me over to Chrome about 90% of the time I am on desktop... Please make it work for we "working to be loyal" Opera fans...

Checked again this morning. Is Opera doing chromecast yet? Nope. OK back to Google Chrome. Sorry guys.

You may as-well stay with Chrome (at least for the foreseeable future) as nothing has been promised yet, and it is in the evaluating stages (according to Andreas). So I'm not even sure what you would expected to have happened in just over a week (since your last post) considering the above ?.

You need to use the new Opera Beta. It's very stable and chrome cast works fine from there. The only thing is first you need to Chrome extension app then download cast. Once you download cast you will have to enable it from settings. I'm using it now and it works fine. Need help? peruguy at gmail
