My mail comes up all blank

All my mail now comes up blank boxes. How do I retrieve it?
The old Opera forum had discussion telling "how to fix a corrupted mail folder", but I can't find any information here anymore and I can't remember how I did it before. All I remember is that I removed some file, or lines from a file, then re-imported all my mail files.
I would appreciate if somebody advises me on this, again.
