Latest Update Broke the Opera UI

This is the same issue as described in Portuguese by @edsonmartim here at https://forums.opera.com/topic/43538/open-algumas-funções-do-navegador-opera-versão-71-stable-não-funcionam before a Mod rudely told him to 'Use English here' then closed the thread. A little xenophobic, if you ask me.
At the bottom of the post @edsonmartim wrote "[Obviously, this post] is in PT_BR, because the mouse is not working in Opera, as well as the copy and paste function of the keyboard and I was not able to translate the text."
Someone needs to hang their head in shame.

I'm using Opera on Ubuntu 18.04.
Similarly, after updating Opera today, there is a problem that the menu does not open and right click is not possible. I am using it for online work, so I want a quick fix! -

Same here. Opera menu button is not operational, fonts are blown out of proportion, can't right click, etc...
The update basically renders the browser unusable.
These issues arose immediately with the update to 71.0.3770.148. I would recommend staying far away from any Opera update for a while until this catastrophe can be investigated or fixed.
I've never seen an approved update pushed out by a company that literally destroys their own product. This seems very suspicious.

I just fixed this issue by enabling the Use hardware acceleration when available option and relaunching Opera. Give it a try, guys!

@KetoKelo I confirm that this does fix the problem. But, the hardware acceleration setting tends to cause browser instability, which is the reason I leave it disabled. I will keep it enabled for now.
For those who are struggling to find the option,
- Go to opera://settings/system
- The top item listed there should be the 'Enable hardware acceleration when available' toggle.
Thank you, KetKelo.

In trying to correct the printer problem, Opera doesn't recognise my network printer, I upgraded to the latest ver. What a mistake. Now nothing works with "right click". Tried to revert to a historical version, nope, the latest ver downloads. It is a darn good thing I hadn't removed Chromium yet, I need something that works and is reliable.

@t0kir0 @ctrlaltdel @dabuntu @vr51 Enable hardware acceleration.
Thank you, KetoKelo, for bringing that workaround to our attention. But, it still isn't satisfactory and I will not upgrade again until a permanent solution is made.
Forcing users to enable hardware acceleration or you can't use our browser is no way to operate. If Opera has decided to permanently make this a feature of their browser, I will no longer use it.
I have a much better processor, an i7, than I do a graphics card which is a low end Nvidia. On games as simple as Miniclip pool, the playback becomes jerky and unreliable after just a few moments with enable hardware acceleration activated.
If Opera has decided that they will no longer allow their users to choose between activating hardware acceleration and deactivating it, I believe it will be time for a lot of users to move on out of necessity, not choice.

@KetoKelo So guis, after restarting I have brand new opera. without any setings from before. menus and right click still not work, I qiut till new update :((
I don't blame you, tOkirO. This is a clown show release by Opera. It has nothing to do with Chrome because we have been told that Opera is not Chrome.
So this catastrophe is all on Opera. They may have released a version of their browser that doesn't work just for a good laugh at their user's expense.
I can't logically come up with any other reason for them to knowingly allow Opera 71 to be pushed out having full knowledge that it would not work properly.

@KetoKelo Thank you for advice, unfortunatelly this not work on my case. I enable this option, but no effect on menu and right click still not work. maybe my pc is old enough and no hardware acceleration here? How to downgrade to 70...?
If you are using Ubuntu or Linux Mint, I saved the latest .deb file that I downloaded from Opera. It is version 70.0.3728.119. I uploaded it for you here:
It will tell you that you have a newer version installed on your computer, because you have already installed 71, and ask you if you really want to use an older version. Accept it and proceed to install.
Other versions for different Linux distributions can be found here: Opera Install

Great, tOkirO. I'm glad you were able to go back. I had no idea ftp@opera existed. Thanks for the link.

I'm currently using Opera 71.0.3770.148 on ubuntu 20.04. After the most recent update, I am unable to right click on anything in Opera. Neither in the web page or in the menus. I can't left or right click on the Opera 'O' to access menus (I can physically click the mouse, but nothing happens). Anybody else have this problem or have any clue what the issue could be? Right click/mouse work fine in general everywhere else in the OS.

Yes, I had the same issue and it has been discussed at https://forums.opera.com/topic/43542/latest-update-broke-the-opera-ui
The solution is enable hardware acceleration when available.
- Go to opera://settings/system
- The top item listed there should be the 'Enable hardware acceleration when available' toggle.

@liewcheonfong Thanks so much! Didn't see that thread! That fixed it for me.
