Removing the tab bar

The main reason I cannot use opera as my default browser is the way the tab ribbon bar takes up valuable screen real estate. there is no way to disable or remove the tab bar. The reason this is so crucial is that for magnified text, not enough text can be displayed in the main window for easy reading. The 20 or so vertical pixels taken up by the tab ribbon bar make a crucial difference, especially now that interfaces are designed for tablets with excessive use of ribbon bars.
