[Solved]Daily news not showing in GX Corner

Used to have the daily news showing in GX Corner, but one day that section did not appear anymore.
It's enabled in settings and, most likely related, in the settings section the "Daily news - Regional Settings" checkbox field is blank, there are no options there (pic related).
However, news do show up just fine on start page.
I tried creating a new profile (renaming the directory under AppData/Local/Opera Software), disabling all extensions/ad-blocker, and resetting all settings.
I'm running Windows 10 64-bit, latest browser version (core: 68.0.3618.142)

Update: Mistake at creating a new profile, that's the cache folder. I now correctly created a new profile by renaming the right directory under Roaming, and daily news do show up as expected. I'll see more into it now
