Opera 12.16 - download dialogue for .SVG on wiki and opera forums

Every time I go to a Wikipedia page (or indeed these forums, plus a few others) a download dialog for an svg file pops up.
the only references I can find after searching are to an obsolete Adobe plugin.
I've checked in opera:config and can't find anything that helps.
any ideas how I can get rid of the dialogue?

Open Operas preferences
Select tab Advanced
Select section Downloads
Untick Hide file types opened by Opera
enter svg in quick search field
With all all found entries
.. Select all found entries with image/...svg
.. Hit Edit button
.. Select (*) Open with Opera
.. Hit OK button -
