settings synced to wrong brower?

Yesterday I installed Opera GX on computer 1. Liked it enough to decide to install it on Computer2.
Saw that I could sync settings, so I logged into and sync'd computer 1 first. Then I repeated on computer 2. The bookmarks transfered from computer 1 to computer 2. but now all my settings are default! (i'm guessing it went from computer 2 to computer 1)
Do I have to re do all my settings manually? or might they still be accessible somehow?
Also, for installs and syncs in the future, how can I make sure the settings from the OLDER install takes precedence over the new install with default settings?
