Signing in to Sync freezes Opera completely

I can normally sign into my Opera account (as can be seen from the fact I'm sending this post), and I see that I have a half-thousand bookmarks, hundred saved passwords and so on, but I cannot sync them from my browser. I recently reinstalled the OS, and whenever I try to login from the browser UI (as opposed to from the website), I just get a spinning arc and opera freezes completely. Not even the close button works, I have to use
xkill
to kill it. I have left it for 15 minutes, I have reinstalled Opera from scratch, deleted.config/opera
, nothing seems to help.- Did anyone encounter such a problem before, and have you managed to solve it?
- Is there a way to at least export my bookmarks from the Opera account, so I can import them into Firefox (or any other browser)?

Try to turn off all other sync data - "history", "settings", "open tabs"

@adasiko Where do I turn it off? I suppose I should log in first, and I can't do that.

Delete the broken
.config/opera
, and replace the entire folder with one from your backup. -

@thomasmca Thank you. In fact it was just a matter of time: I left it over the night, and in the morning it was synced. Still, weird that the process was completely blocked for over an hour. I'm not sure your approach would have worked, since the OS is different - and I didn't really backup my dot folders. blush

Hi,
Just to add that I recently is meeting the same issue. By recently I actually mean 1 or up to 2 months. This is fairly weird because I did reinstall opera a little before and I had no issue. As far as I can remember, It appeared while I was properly logged. Was it after a backup ? Is it linked to a degraded service ? I can't tell for sure.
What I can tell for sure is as soon as I log with my opera credentials it freezes the browser for quite some time. I just retried though and it froze and successfully logged and synced. Let's see what experience will it come with in usage.
