Since you are on ubuntu, why don't you just switch to the deb version?

Ubuntu still offers the chromium... family of packages as a regular deb packages for 16.04, so, now that opera is on v66, it willd efinitely be compatible with the v79 chromium ffmpeg codecs,
Other than that, yes, things will break once ubuntu updates chromium next month,

It's easier to just use Firefox.
True, but I'm finding at the moment Vivaldi is filling in very nicely as it plays and has been playing since its launch Netflix and other video sites perfectly

@ultravio1et
I've run Vivaldi on Ubuntu in the past, it's not always easy to install. Firefox, on the other hand is the default ... and works.

I find it incredibly easy to install in Ubuntu :
maybe three clicks away after visiting their download page

@ultravio1et It isn't for me. Vivaldi's bollocks anyway. It has more bugs than a rain forest. A bit like Opera ...

I interpret the latest message as the issue is fixed...probably. Lets see if Opera can issue a newer snap version soon.
Been reading how many users are not happy with newer Bookmark side bar in v65 & v66 (video pop up issue). So, probably staying with v64 may not be so bad?

I’ve done this just now for opera-developer, opera-beta and opera. I tested that auto-connect is happening correctly with:$ snap interfaces opera-developer
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera-developer
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera-developer
...$ snap interfaces opera-beta
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera-beta
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera-beta
...$ snap interfaces opera
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera
...
I noticed that opera didn’t pass automated review due to it adding the dbus interface, and granted a snap declaration for that as well.[/quote] -
