Putting google.com on home screen without duplicates

I would like to put google.com as an icon on my home screen which works, but when i click on it, it always opens a new tab. What I would like to experience is that if there is an empty google.com page already in the tabs, clicking on the icon would not open a new tab, instead it would just navigate to the already existing google.com tab.
