There are fontconfig errors on startup (~/.xsession-errors log):
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 5: unknown element "its:rules"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 6: unknown element "its:translateRule"
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 6: invalid attribute 'translate'
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 6: invalid attribute 'selector'
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 7: invalid attribute 'xmlns:its'
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 7: invalid attribute 'version'
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/fonts.conf", line 9: unknown element "description"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf", line 4: unknown element "its:rules"
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/10-hinting-slight.conf", line 5: unknown element "its:translateRule"
      ...

      https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=235643
"I understand this to mean that the libraries of the not working applis should be adapted to the new fontconfig conf files, and that there is no bug in fontconfig proper.
As a workaround presently, the old fontconfig conf files can be used with the old libraries of the not working applis (as shown in the posts above to downgrade only the conf files from the previous fontconfig package).

So it seems that new bugs need to be opened in the not working applis bug tracker sites, for the developers there to adapt their libraries to the last fontconfig release."

Because there is no public-facing bug report tracker I have no way to check if a bug report has been filed already.
Should I file regardless, or somebody with proper rights (an employee) can verify for me. Thanks.

I get the same, if not more, spam from fontconfig when launching opera
          https://paste.debian.net/1029543/

But since everything works as intended, I have no reason to complain for it more or name it a bug...

I submitted a bug just to let Opera devs know that they need to recompile libs to avoid spamming users with error messages.
