Opera processes missing from task manager

  • I have noticed a number of times now that process numbers listed by the top command are missing in the Opera task manager. Could these be from tabs that have been closed but somehow not terminated properly when closed?

As an example from the top command:
    27565 xxxxx 20 0 4439584 1.299g 64196 S 0.7 19.1 14:29.58 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/opera --type=renderer --field-trial-handle=15210405135860282877,198803473190905603,13107+

This process does not appear in the Opera task manager but appears to be using considerable memory.

  • It would be good to know why this is happening. It seems that at the moment the only way to get rid of these processes is to shut down Opera and start it up again.

  • Also, is the '--field-trial-handle' option meant to be there?
