Mac style tabs in Windows and Linux

I use Opera on all those platforms. On the Mac the left side of a tab does double duty. Normally it displays the favicon, as usual, When the mouse is hovering over it, it changes to a cross and a click closes the tab. Windows and Linux have a dedicated close button on the right of the tab.
The Mac arrangement shines with many tabs. Firstly you are not wasting screen space on all those close buttons. More importantly, when the tabs are crowded closing unwanted ones is slow. You first need to activate each tab, only then do you see its close button.
