I installed the most recent Opera update a few days ago, to find that I can no longer play embedded videos in 6 sites andothers. I keep getting the same error message "CANNOT PLAY" etc. PLEASE ADVISE, someone?

Can you please mention some of those sites?
Opera has issues on many sites due to its poor html5 support from its own libffmpeg, but that did not change in the last upgrade.

          Hi

On arch distro, i had to downgrade opera-developer-ffmpeg-codecs from last version ( opera-developer-ffmpeg-codecs-64.0.3260.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz ) to previous version ( opera-developer-ffmpeg-codecs-63.0.3218.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz ) for video html5 to work.
So a downgrade of ffmpeg could work for you

Part of my message has been garbled in transmission(?): Where the "6" is should read "on some news sites and others". This one is from The Age news site Australia:

            Error Code: MEDIA_ERR_SRC_NOT_SUPPORTED
No compatible source was found for this media.

              Tested on this video url
              http://www.theage.com.au/video/video-news/video-national-news/stuck-on-your-car-with-the-crocs-circling-20171124-50c0q.html

As I said above, its an mp4 video which opera's libffmpeg does not support. If you are on a distro that packages chromiumffmpeg codecs, eg ubuntu, install that and it will play. If not, use another browser.
