Would be cool if i select plain text (i.e. non-clickable) URL and then open it in the new tab (not current tab by default) from within the context menu

I agree, it makes quite a bit more sense to open these links in a new tab, since by their nature of not having an <a href> tag, they never are used for site navigation. This means the user is forced to leave the current site to use this feature.
