Weird error message with Opera 44 in Arch Linux however 43 works fine

  • After I installed Opera 44 from Arch Linux repository browser refuses to start. When invoking from a terminal I can see the following error message:

    [core]
    /usr/lib/opera/opera: Relink /usr/lib/nvidia/libGLcore.so.1' with/usr/lib/libc.so.6' for IFUNC symbol `memset'
    Segmentation fault (core dumped)
    [/core]

I am using Linux kernel 4.10 and an older Nvidia 440 MX 64 MB video card with the proprietary driver called "nvidia-96xx-dkms" (from City repository of Arch Linux).

When I downgrade to Opera 43 then it works fine again.
