Facebook is crashing on Opera 44.0.2510.1159 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

When I access Facebook using Opera 44.0.2510.1159 on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, the Facebook website works for around 3-5 seconds and then suddenly freezes. I could no longer scroll down my news feed nor click any of the links. When I attempt to close the tab, it takes 5-10 seconds for it to close. I have tried clearing my cache, clearing my profile and Opera cache folders and removing all extensions but it still does not work. Facebook works on all of my other browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi, etc.) and Facebook on Opera also works in my Windows machine.

Any ideas why this is happening? And are there any workarounds that I could do to prevent it?
It's kind of a hassle to use a different browser just for Facebook.
