Fonts on a 4k monitor

I've been using Firefox for the last year purely because it seems to get fonts 'right' on my 4K monitor. I'm back on Opera for the speed and thoughtfulness of design and function despite the fonts not being quite 'right'.
Is there any way I can tweak the font rendering so that there is no blur or patchiness?
Searching for 'opera linux 4k' yields almost nothing, which I find quite bizarre given how cheap ultra hi-res monitors are these days. I'd expect a 'high DPI mode' toggle in settings somewhere.
I'm using Xubuntu 16.04 with the XFCE window manager.
