Show on Bookmark Bar

  • I would like the ability to show or hide bookmarks from the Bookmark Bar. This way I can have bookmarked URLs in my Bookmarks that are not clogging up my Bookmark Bar.

To do this I would select a Bookmark or Bookmark folder to edit. The edit screen would contain a checkbox for "Show on Bookmark Bar". This checkbox is selected by default when a new bookmark is created. When the checkbox is selected, the bookmark would display within it's current structure on the Bookmark Bar. For example, if the bookmark exists in the root of the bookmarks, then it would appear directly within the bookmark bar. However, if the bookmark was nested inside a folder, then the folder would become visible on the Bookmark Bar with the bookmark showing when the folder is expanded.

Folders (like bookmarks) also have the "Show on Bookmark Bar" checkbox option. However, if a folder contains any bookmarks with "Show on Bookmark Bar" selected, then the user cannot uncheck the option. That is, folders can only be hidden from view when they contain no items marked for showing.
