I can no longer login to Paypal, for example, but on average 5% of the pages crash regularly. What happened to Opera 30???
This is on Ubuntu 15.04. The only extensions I use are uBlock and User-Agent Switcher (usually inactive).
Version: 30.0.1835.59 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Ubuntu 15.04 (x86_64; Unity)Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/43.0.2357.81 Safari/537.36 OPR/30.0.1835.59

Do you have ffmpeg installed? Write this in a terminal: ffmpeg -version. It will output a bunch of text, at the top of it you will find the version number. Please post it.

That explains it. Opera use ffmpeg to display video with the format H.264, and there's a bug in ffmpeg 2.5.7 that makes Opera crash. Actually the latest version of ffmpeg is 2.7.1, so the package in the Ubuntu repositories isn't updated. You have to have at least version 2.6.* to avoid the crashes.
What I recommend you to do is to build ffmpeg yourself, see this guide: http://ruario.ghost.io/2014/12/19/adding-h-264-video-support-to-opera-for-linux/
Perhaps you have to remove your current installation of ffmpeg first.

I might play with that in the future. However
- Opera 29 did not crash
- Chrome does not have a problem with ffmpeg (does not crash)
- crashes are not related to playing videos, for example, Gmail just crashed in the background...
I left Chrome because it's lack of support for hiDPI displays. But that is no longer a problem, so it seems to make sense to go back... it's more stable now, and does not have a problem with my remapped Caps-Lock key...
