Is it possible to add a feature to search through open tabs in the tab menu?

No, but there are extensions that allow you to do this:

Oh it is a request. I think we would prefer add it to the address field at some point. One of the reasons we didn't add it to tab menu is that we would prefer not have lots of different places to search.
