I was checking my IP on whatsmyip.com and it shows a proxy address under Opera, but not Firefox. Every once in a while, I try to log in to forums, but am prevented with a message saying my IP has been banned. This would explain why I am having this problem.

How do I turn this proxy feature off in Opera?

I am using Opera 12 for Linux.

        Disable/remove tick from 'Opera-Menu / Settings /Quick preferences / Enable proxy servers' ?.

Or disable 'Opera Turbo' found via 'Opera-Menu / Settings / Preferences... / Web pages', top option.

What does Turbo have to do with proxies? Enable proxy servers was not checked.

What does Turbo have to do with proxies?

A quote from Opera themselves, about their Opera Turbo service.

            How does Opera Turbo work?

The technology behind Opera Turbo is a proxy server with server-side compression of webpages. A compression rate of up to 80% can be achieved, in part by reducing the quality of images. If you want to view an image uncompressed, right-click on the image, and select "Reload Image in Full Quality".

            Clearer now ?.
