Make middle click on back/forward/speeddial toolbar buttons open in background

In chrome and firefox middle clicking on the back/forward/home buttons opens previous/next/home page in a new background tab.
In opera 22 middle clicking these buttons does the same thing as left click (opens in current tab), which is jarring and inconsistent. Middle clicking links opens links in a new background tab, so middle clicking back/forward on the toolbar should open the previous/next page in a new background tab.

In Opera 24 (Developer) middle clicking on the buttons is the same like in Chrome and Firefox (back/forward/home buttons opens previous/next/home page in a new background tab).
I'm using Opera 24 on ArchLinux.

Yeah, it I recently had someone tell me I can enable this via flag on opera 22 opera://flags/#extended-toolbar-buttons-handling
I guess that flag must now be the default on the dev version.
