[Opera Mini]Long press context menu with options to organize speed dials

Dear Opera Mini Development Team,
I would like to suggest an enhancement to the Speed Dial feature to improve the organization and management of shortcuts, especially for users with a large number of Speed Dials.
Currently, organizing Speed Dials relies heavily on drag-and-drop, which can be cumbersome and inefficient, particularly because the screen does not automatically scroll when dragging shortcuts beyond the visible area. This makes precise placement difficult and time-consuming.
To address this, I propose implementing a long-press context menu on Speed Dial shortcuts that offers the following options:
- Create New Shortcut: Quickly add a new shortcut directly from the menu.
- Create New Group: Allow users to create a folder/group to better categorize shortcuts.
- Add to Existing Group: Move the selected shortcut into an existing group/folder.
- Move to Top: Instantly move the shortcut to the top of the Speed Dial list.
- Move to Bottom: Instantly move the shortcut to the bottom of the Speed Dial list.
- Rename Shortcut: Edit the name of the shortcut for better clarity.
- Edit Shortcut URL: Modify the URL associated with the shortcut.
- Remove Shortcut: Delete the shortcut from Speed Dial.
- Duplicate Shortcut: Create a copy of the shortcut for easy reuse.
- Share Shortcut: Share the shortcut link via other apps or platforms.
- Sort Group: Within groups, allow sorting options such as alphabetical, most visited, or custom order.
- Expand/Collapse Group: Allow groups to be collapsed or expanded to save screen space.
- Pin Shortcut/Group: Pin important shortcuts or groups to keep them always visible at the top.
- Import Shortcut(s): Allow users to import shortcuts from external files or other devices.
- Import Shortcut Group(s): Allow importing entire groups/folders of shortcuts.
- Export Shortcut(s): Enable exporting individual shortcuts for backup or sharing.
- Export Shortcut Group(s): Enable exporting entire groups/folders for backup or sharing.
Additionally, enabling automatic scrolling during drag-and-drop would greatly enhance the user experience by allowing easier repositioning of shortcuts anywhere on the Speed Dial screen.
These improvements would provide users with a more intuitive and efficient way to manage their Speed Dials, making Opera Mini even more user-friendly and powerful.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I look forward to seeing how Opera Mini continues to evolve.
Best regards,

Follow-up Suggestion: Faster, Multi-Select Speed Dial Editing
Dear Opera Mini Development Team,
Thank you for reviewing my previous suggestion on Speed Dial enhancements. After further testing, I've realized a long-press context menu would still feel too slow for frequent edits, especially with drag-and-drop limitations like missing auto-scroll. Instead, I propose a dedicated "Edit Mode” for lightning-fast, multi-select management—think of it like editing contacts or photos in other apps.
Core Feature: Tap-to-Edit Mode
- Tap the "Edit" button (pencil icon at the bottom, next to "Add New Shortcut") to enter Edit Mode—no extra top panel needed.
- Multi-select shortcuts: Tap one or more (or tap-drag to select ranges/groups). Visual cues like checkboxes or highlights make it intuitive.
- Tap "Next" (or a bottom toolbar) to open a streamlined context menu with bulk actions:
- Move to top/bottom/position.
- Rename (bulk: apply same name pattern or sequential numbering).
- Edit URLs (bulk: replace domain, add prefixes).
- Delete/Duplicate/Share (all selected at once).
- Add to/create groups (see below).
- "Exit Edit Mode" with a "Done" button, preserving your changes instantly.
- Toggle between "list view" (compact, searchable rows) and "tree view" (nested folders, expandable like file explorers) for better organization.
This fixes drag-and-drop pain points (add auto-scroll in Edit Mode too) and scales for users with 50+ shortcuts.
Smart Grouping & Auto-Organization
- "Auto-categorize all shortcuts": One-tap "Arrange Automatically" uses a built-in database or user-defined rules to sort into categories/subcategories (e.g., News, Shopping, Social). Base it on URL keywords, domains, or page titles.
- "User overrides": Edit an "Override List" to customize rules, merge categories, or exclude sites.
- "Refinement tools": Post-auto-sort, jump back to Edit Mode for manual tweaks, sorting (alpha, most visited, custom), or pinning.
- "Tie-in with Bookmarks/History": Import/export Speed Dials as bookmark folders; suggest additions from browsing history or frequent tabs.
Duplicate & Similarity Detection
- "Find Duplicates": Scan for exact matches or wildcard variants (e.g., example.com vs. www.example.com vs. sub.example.com). Bulk merge/delete.
- "Find Similar": AI-powered detection of related sites by domain similarity, content type (e.g., cluster news sites), or favicon/keyword matching. Suggest grouping or removal.
Additional Enhancements for Power Users
- "Search/Filter Bar": In Edit Mode, search shortcuts by name/URL/keyword; filter by group, pinned status, or visit frequency.
- "Bulk Import/Export": Drag-and-drop files (JSON/CSV) for shortcuts/groups; sync across devices via Opera account.
- "Custom Group Themes": Assign colors/icons to groups for visual organization (e.g., red for work, blue for entertainment).
- "Undo Stack": 10-step undo for accidental changes, with a "History" button to revert.
These changes would transform Speed Dial into a pro-level manager—efficient for quick tweaks, powerful for heavy users—while keeping the default view simple and fast.
Thank you for iterating on user feedback!
