Opera developer SNAP Wayland doesn't work after update to revision 424

I rebooted this morning on Ubuntu, and the snap package is no longer operational..

Starting at menu or dock and other than the icon flashing for a second (system reacting to click) nothing actually opens.

If started at terminal I get

Yesterday I was using a Xorg session & had no issues; today I logged into Ubuntu Desktop and a GNOME session using Wayland, but its also possible that it was updated (I apply all updates on login PRIOR to opening any windows; and snap info detail does imply it updated)

I'm using Ubuntu resolute.

Further to my last post... (it's not visible so needing approval I gather), the same [Opera] app is now working perfectly...

I logged out of my Wayland (Ubuntu Desktop/GNOME) session and into an Xorg session (LXQt on same install/box), and on the same machine, same software versions (No updates applied), Opera is now working perfectly...

I could login to other sessions if helpful; but error message does imply (to me) it's related purely to Wayland session; what I wasn't using yesterday, or now. Many users have only Wayland sessions on their installs.

(I'm using Ubuntu resolute), updates applied 3 times per day.

I had the same problem with opera 124.0.5705.42 that just came out. Was able to run it using --ozone-platform=x11 flag, but im not gonna do that every time so i reinstall the older version and it's working normally. Hope they'll fix it...

Same problem here with the stable version. Stopped working a few hours ago. Using Ubuntu 25.10 and snap.

I can confirm. Snap opera-stable broke with the latest update to v124. I get the same error messages as the users above me. The snap crashed with the same wayland init error.

As of now we can't even use the .deb version because that one also broke with the update to v124. There seems to be a larger problem. I wonder how this passed the internal QA.

@metana Yes. It gets full screened and stuck. It seems like it might be related to the razor thin handles the opera window has in linux.. maybe i'm just not grabbing the handle because it barely exists. Either way, they borked a bunch of stuff with the latest update.
