I noticed the same behavior on version 66.0.3515.27. Some web pages freeze. I can't scroll them until I switch to another tab. Everything was fine on previous version of Opera. I'am on Linux Mint 19.3 Cinnamon.

Hi,
Same here, but every minute or two on ytb, also while playing lichess, which is .js intensive.
It locks up also just standing open. I switch to a workspace with opera and get blank screen
instead of Opera window.Regards,

Yes, the same thing. Opera still freezes. The last update doesn't resolve this problem.

Yes, this is happening to me too in Manjaro Arch Linux , Opera Version: 66.0.3515.27.
I downgraded to 64.0.3417.92 it looks more stable.
This problem is old to me, older versions have issues in taskbar too.
Seem like something about the extensions but I think this is more about Opera then it... -

You should try on a Clean Profile, then fill a Bug Report if needed.

Same here, with Solus in a VirtualBox 6.1.2.
Deleted the whole profile folder, which was a success - but only temporarly. The lags started again after a while. Maybe just a coincidence: the lags began after the first password was stored.
In addition, the whole VirtualBox is crashing occasionally when closing Opera with a segmentation fault, I never saw this before. -

Well, after fiddling around with all this stuff - it's not Opera's fault, it seems to be the engine instead. Have the exact same issues with Brave browser now.
Lags / lockups after disabling hardware-acceleration, segfaults when closing the window if hardware-acceleration is enabled. -

I have the same issue on up-to-date Arch. Now using last stable version working for me - 65.0.3467.69.
I also think it's an engine issue - seems other browsers based on Chrome/Chromium, Vivaldi i.e., are affected by the exact same problem.

You can try to click on the Menu, open it (and close) then it unlocks, but happens again one to 3 more times, then it works. Funny thing is that only rendering is locked, video actually keeps working. Same as with lichess.

As for me, I am on xorg and I won't be moving to wayland until every single driver and app I sue becomes 110% wayland compatible.

I Just got an update, but the issue persists.
I am on Xorg and there's no Wayland for Mate 16, so I can't test that.

Same thing here, the issue persists after the 3rd update to v66.
Did it appear on all of us after the update to v66?On top of the above, creating a clean profile and starting from scratch is not an option for me.

But did you tested to allow whether is related to your settings or it's a Bug?

Testing won't be proper if it lasts 1 hour, but 4-5 days with the same usage. And in order to use it for all that time, I will have to export and import all my 500+ bookmarks, re-login to forums, github, fb etc I use daily (15+ sites), reinstall all the addons (4) I have and finally reconfigure the browser (= change more than half of the settings) because it's stock settings are way too... uncomfortable for me. Is there anyhing else I missed?
I estimate that this will take me ~1 hour, but if I am going to do all that, why not move to another browser after all? The cause of that bug is not my (or any other user's) fault.

@jimunderscorep
Well,
Actually, you (all) should do periodical backups to avoid problems.
This is for Opera and the rest of software you use the most and the system as well. Then,
If you prefer another browser, go, you will need to do the same if not already. You could rebuild the Opera profile but during a week if you prefer, instead of all once.
If you never did it, then it will allow you to know what you need to back up and setup.
You can also create a Basic profile with the most default settings for other profiles and another for the Default profile with all the custom settings.
Back them up.
Start browsing.
If at some point you face another problem needing to rebuild, half or more will be already done.
You can create Shortcuts to avoid changing Profile names every time you have to work with one Profile or another.

Try to turm off GPU aceleration
Settings -> Browser -> Use hardware acceleration when available
PS: I did not notice such problem on Ubuntu 18.04 + Nvidia 435

Hi, I tried disabling hardware acceleration and the issue persists, although it is not as often, so I can actually play lichess, watch youtube, and when I notice imagery locked up, I just click the menu open/close... Ohh the things we do when we love Opera...
