This would help: https://addons.opera.com/en/wallpapers/?tag=animated
Install and extract any and look for the file extension, you may try to convert your Gif then.
Themes are located at your profile.
Follow the signature's BackUp link if needed.

@vulonvahlok Vivaldi has this feature for a long time now. Too bad Opera doens't allow a straight up way of doing it.

@artexjay
Both have things that the other don't.

@zalex108 true, though Opera is far more restrictive. And features are sub-par in my estimation.

Sure, but there are small details:
VPN:
Opera - I
Vivaldi - ODetails on Mobile version, AdBlock, VPN, [maybe others that don't recall]:
Opera - I
Vivaldi - OSpeedDial settings Out of the Box:
Opera - I
Vivaldi - OImport / Add Search Engines in bulk from the SQLite file - when you come from Chrome, Opera and some others:
Opera - I
Vivaldi - OAll of them would be worked around but you have to spend some time to find and apply the "fixes".
On the other side, Vivaldi options are endless and some of them should be already on Opera for long time ago.
But maybe I still consider Opera as it was Opera Presto's Company, and obviously, I'm wrong.
For that, Vivaldi Browser exists.

Few weeks ago, I've rebuild V Base Profile, and except for custom tweaks about Css and JS, Opera it's is mostly mirrored.
Depends on the user, and the use the preferred one, Opera or Vivaldi.
Still many people are using Chrome, IE, and Edge.

From what I have experienced, Opera supports .webm files to be used as wallpapers. You might want to convert your .gif's to .webm's in order to have them as wallpapers.

You have to rename the gif to a (Example).jpeg file and, than you can easily change it in Opera GX hope this helps
