Opera unable to access secondary drive in Ubuntu 18.04 lts

The file browser is unable to access my secondary drive from Opera and, if I try drag and drop from an open file browser accessing that drive Opera returns an http error. Note that files on this drive can be accessed and used normally from FireFox. Drag and drop works, FF can open the folders on that drive, and so on. So this is definitely an Opera issue, and one that I can find no solution for in settings.
