Bookmarks + Sidebar

We all know that the sidebar takes some vertical space away from our screens, while the bookmarks bar does the same with horizontal space. Due to this i realized that, in the era of widescreen monitors, i'd rather have vertical space taken away. Why not let us merge them?
Possible ideas:
- Enable users to add bookmarks to the sidebar as you do with the bookmarks bar(it would work the same way as the bookmarks bar, there would be a bookmarks folder by default named "Sidebar" and it would inherit the same functionalities)
- Add an option into the setting page to "Show bookmarks from Bookmarks bar in Sidebar"
- Enable users to add a pre-defined number of already stored bookmarks to the sidebar (ie: you can select up to 5 of your bookmarks from any folder to appear in the sidebar).
I might be able to do some visual demos of each possibility in the near future.

V7 Bookmarks extension does put bookmarks in the sidebar, and manipulating those bookmarks is easier from there.
